The National Institute on Aging has just released their latest annual report on Alzheimer’s disease research. The report is called: "Tthe Progress Report on Alzheimer’s Disease: Translating New Knowledge" and summarizes current scientific directions and highlights key findings from Alzheimer’s research. The research is well layed out and easy and to the point about providing in-home care for seniors dealing with Alzheimer's.
•discovery of new genes and biological mechanisms that cause Alzheimer's disease;
•earlier disease detection using neuroimaging and biomarkers;
•links between Alzheimer’s and other age-related diseases;
•lifestyle factors that may protect against Alzheimer's disease;
•successful cognitive aging;
•clinical trials underway now to prevent or treat Alzheimer's disease and cognitive decline; and,
•research-tested strategies to support caregivers.
The report is produced by the National Institute on Aging, the primary Federal agency supporting research in Alzheimer’s disease and age-related cognitive change.
